Stephen Mashford

Role: Chair CRC Conferences Committee
Steve is currently Warden of Readers in the Diocese of Ely. He was first licensed in 2002 in Ely after starting his training in 1999. Over the years he has served on the Board in Ely as Area Representative, Chair of the Board, Registrar and licensed as Warden n May 2015. The first lay warden to be appointed in the Ely Diocese. Last year to celebrate the 150 years of Reader Ministry it was Steve’s vision of getting the Eastern Region together in Ely Cathedral following a number of meetings with various Diocesan leaders from Chelmsford, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, Norwich, Peterborough and St Albans. Steve is currently licensed in the parishes of Fulbourn, Great Wilbraham and Little Wilbraham with Six Mile Bottom. He has been attending CRC AGM for at least the last six years and was invited to attend the CRC Executive weekend away in February 2016 when the future of CRC was discussed. He is still in full time employment with a leading retailer who he has worked for since joining in 1971. He was married in 1977 has three children and four grandchildren, his wife Jenny works in a Church of England/Roman Catholic school in Cambridge.

  • Over 130 Readers from across the Diocese of Bath & Wells gathered on Saturday 7th October at the Blue School in Wells and later in the Cathedral to celebrate their ministry.
