Dennis Alexander and Robert S WhiteThe joint authors are eminent academic scientists and committed Christians whose aim in this book is to raise awareness of the inter-face between science and the Christian faith.
They paint the picture of a healthy relationship between the two in which each can nourish the other so that worship is enhanced by scientific discovery and knowledge and research procedures and conduct can be moulded by biblical understandings of justice, morality and kingdom values. The book is in two parts each contributed jointly. In the first part there are detailed overviews of the development of the science - religion debate from a variety of perspectives. In the second a number of scientific ethical issues for today are unwrapped and repackaged under the expectations and challenges of the Christian gospel. This is an interesting read and one to which I shall return without the haste which reviewing demands. A small disappointment is that there are not more illustrations and discussion from non-biological fields especially as one of the authors is a Professor of Geophysics.
