In the Footsteps of St Paul
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ST PAUL
Edward StourtonBased on Edward Stoughton's Radio 4 series of the same title. He writes as a journalist in a fresh, simple style, describing Paul the man , and not analysing his letters or theology.
The author shows that Paul had a distinct bias against certain sections of the community and that here were contradictions in his character of which he was aware. Paul comes alive. There are vivid descriptions of Damascus, Antioch and Corinth which provide the social, religious and historical background of Paul's work. Edward Stourton makes many comparisons with modern personalities and systems. There are observations about Paul's relationships with the Jews and how he acquired mellowness with advancing years. Recommended as an enlightening source of background material for anyone attracted by a man whom many regard as the prime mover in founding the church.
